How we operate as a furniture outlet, why our stock costs less, and what to expect when you buy from us.

A furniture outlet sells surplus stock from established furniture retailers at a reduced price. The furniture is the same as you would find in the retailer's own stores, but it has become surplus because an order was cancelled, a range was discontinued, or a piece was used for display or photography. Joseph James is a dedicated furniture outlet: everything we sell comes to us this way.

Yes. Every piece is a genuine piece from the retailer named on the listing, sourced directly from that retailer. Where a product is from a named brand range, it is the same model, fabric and construction sold on the high street. 

We sell for 30-70% below RRP because we buy surplus stock that retailers need to clear quickly. A cancelled order or a discontinued range has already been paid for, so the retailer would rather sell it to us at a low price than store it. We pass that saving on. Our prices are low because of how we buy, not because of what we sell.

Yes. We have four showrooms in the North West, in St Helens, Stockport, Stretford and Warrington, with over 1,000 products on the floor between them. Everything online is physical stock you can visit, sit on and inspect. You can buy in store or order online for free delivery within 7 days.

All of our stock is brand new and unused, and every piece comes with a free 12-month warranty from Joseph James. Nothing we sell has been in a customer's home.

The photos looked different to what I had seen in person, so within the hour they sent me pictures and videos.After a helpful WhatsApp chat, I ordered. The service after that is also top notch. Found a table we liked in Furniture Village. Looked around on the internet and found the identical item £200 cheaper with Joseph James and free delivery (and we live rurally). Live chat manned by a human answered my questions immediately. Contacted with confirmation quickly. Delivery men cheerful and pleasant. Item heavy but put it exactly where we wanted it. James was really helpful in showing us the variety of colours and materials in a sofa range we were interested in. We are really pleased with the overall service and professionalism shown by James. He allowed us to take our time deciding what we wanted without being too pushy. There’s a wide range of sofas for everyone we highly recommend! Faultless transaction and very stress free! Today, we took delivery of our new couches after just 4 days. I ended up purchasing a sofa in less than half an hour which I didn't expect as the process was so easy and Matt was so helpful that the whole process was super easy and stress free.
